Cork University Hospital has one of the largest Emergency Departments (ED) in Ireland and has a significant resuscitation workload. It is the only hospital in Ireland with "level 1 trauma" criteria. We have a particular interest in education with active pre-hospital, emergency nursing, undergraduate, Doctors in Training and specialist registrar programmes.

The ED at the Mercy University Hospital specialises in inner-city emergencies.

Adult patients with minor leg or arm injuries may also attend our Urgent Care Centre at St. Mary's Health Campus, Gurranabraher, or our local injury units at Bantry and Mallow.

Cork Emergency Medicine additionally manages the HSE’s National 24 hour Emergency Tele-Medical Support Unit, Medico Cork.
